Our Mission
The Jesuits of New York labor as companions of Jesus to:
Care for the personal, formational, and spiritual needs of Jesuits and lay colleagues and wisely manage resources that will nurture and sustain the people and works of our Province.
Foster communication within the Province, the larger of Society of Jesus and the Church at large.
Celebrate the works, accomplishments and lives of members of the Province.
Promote awareness of Jesuits in their domestic and international ministries.
Stimulate efforts for the promotion of social justice.
The fruit of these efforts is that:
The Gospel is proclaimed.
People come to know, love and follow Christ;
and we serve the faith that promotes justice, engages other traditions, and evangelizes culture.
Our efforts in service to the Gospel are focused on four priorities:
- The centrality of the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius Loyola in all of our works.
- Partnership in service with the laity.
- Service to the immigrants and the poor.
- Evangelization of culture through learned ministry
