Jesuit Ordinations 2012

More than 300 Jesuits from the Maryland, New England and New York Provinces gathered at Fordham University from June 7-9 for three days of prayer, reflection and celebration. On Saturday, June 9, Edward Cardinal Egan ordained Cesare Campagnoli, SJ, Matthew Malone, SJ, and Joseph Marina, SJ. A crowd of more than 800, including some 200 concelebrants, filled the Fordham University Church. Following the Mass, the newly ordained extended blessings to family and friends. Another highlight of the weekend included acknowledging the jubilarians, the 31 men who have given more than 50 years of service to the Church and the Society. A concelebrated Mass of Thanksgiving was held on June 8, followed by a reception and dinner.

Vow Day 2012

Three novices pronounced their first vows in the Society of Jesus on Saturday, August 18 in the Madonna della Strada Chapel at Le Moyne College in Syracuse, N.Y. Approximately 250 people gathered to witness Timothy Casey (NEN), Jason Downer (NYK) and Doug Ray (NYK) commit their lives in service to the Church and the Society of Jesus. The men took vows of chastity, poverty and obedience during a Mass celebrated by New York Province Provincial Fr. David Ciancimino, SJ, Maryland Province Provincial Fr. Jim Shea, SJ, and New England Province Provincial Fr. Myles Sheehan, SJ, concelebrated the Mass. Fr. Tom Feely, SJ, who served as the formation director for eight years, delivered the homily. The Ignatian Schola, a group of lay persons and Jesuits, led the congregation in song. Casey and Downer will continue their formation in the First Studies program at Loyola University Chicago starting this fall. Ray will study at Fordham University.
