New York Province
Fr. Charles Frederico, SJ, became Director of Vocations for the Maryland and New York Provinces on July 1. He succeeds Br. Christopher Derby, SJ, who has held this position for the past five years.
Fr. John Baldovin, SJ, Professor of Historical and Liturgical Theology at Boston College School of Theology and Ministry, has won the 2009 Catholic Book Award first prize for liturgy for his book, Reforming the Liturgy: A Response to the Critics [Liturgical Press].
More than 400 lay women and men, Jesuits, and other religious from across the east coast and beyond attended The Principle and Foundation: Who We Are Before God Conference on Ignatian Spirituality at Fordham University in New York.
The Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Xavier High School, New York, Richard T. Nolan, Jr., announced that on July 1st Mr. John R. Raslowsky [left] will assume the presidency of the school.
Fr. James R. Conroy, SJ, has been named the new executive director of The Jesuit Collaborative. Fr. Conroy will succeed Fr. Ron Mercier, SJ, who led The Jesuit Collaborative during its first three years. Fr. Conroy will begin on August 1, 2009.
