Speech and Debate Co-Champion On May 10, Yap Catholic High School's (YCHS) speech and debate team competed against the Seventh Day Adventists School (SDA) to see who would represent Yap in the National Debate in Chuuk. The debate ended in a tie but YCHS student Jamie Mooteb will go on to the National debate with one of the SDA students. Congratulations to the students as well as their coaches Fr. New President of Jesuit ConferenceThe Society of Jesus in the United States has announced that Fr. Timothy P. Kesicki, SJ, will be the new president of the Jesuit Conference. Fr. Kesicki is currently the Provincial of the Chicago-Detroit Province and says of his new role, "Going back to St. Ignatius himself, we Jesuits have always put ourselves in service of the Church to minister where the needs are the greatest. I look forward to helping the Society continue its mission with a renewed zeal, strategic use of our resources, and commitment to serving in Christ's name here and around the world." Final Retreat at Manresa

Centro to honor Fr. Jeff Chojnacki, SJ
On Thursday, May 30 from 6 to 8 p.m., Centro Altagracia de Fe y Justicia will honor the legacy of Fr. Jeff Chojnacki, SJ, at the first annual Faith and Justice Award Ceremony. The event will take place at the 83rd Street Saint Ignatius Jesuit Community garden. The award will recognize an individual who has made contributions to the faith and justice work of the New York City immigrant Catholic community.
